TDC (Thin Dense Chrome)

Unlike conventional chromium coatings and other coatings available, Metalife's TDC has a 100% guaranteed bond and will not separate from the base metal.  Metalife is able to accomplish this through a series of proprietary applications that ensure the molecularly bonded chrome is permanent.

The nodular structure of Metalife's TDC, reduces the coefficient of friction substantially compared to other coatings.  Metalife's TDC has a coefficient of friction rating of .12 to .16 depending on the application.

Metalife's TDC has a hardness rating equal to 72 Rockwell C and will not affect buildups of less than .00005 or more than .0002.  The surface shall be completely uniform as shown in the microscopic picture at the right.
Metalife's TDC eliminates the grinding phase needed in most chromium application.  Referring back to the guaranteed bond, TDC is extremely ductile and will not separate from the base metal when subjected to standard bend tests over a radius equal to half the thickness of the metal to which it is applied.  Metalife's TDC conforms to Federal Plating Specs QQ-C320B CLASS 2,TYPE II.

Affects on Basic Metal Strength

The temperature of Metalife's processing solution of 136 degrees F, however the process will withstand temperatures from -400 to 1800 degrees F.  The tensile, yield and fatigue properties of the metal to be coated shall not be significantly affected by the process.  The purity of the chromium surfaces will not be less than 99.4% as deposited and there shall be no hydrogen embrittlement after processing.

Metals for Treatment

All ferrous and non-ferrous metals that are commonly machine wrought or cast and steel, brass, copper, etc. can be processed.
